We're On! What The Delay To The Relaxation Of COVID Restrictions Means For MAD//Fest '21

15 Jun, 2021

Read our statement on how the UK government's decision to delay the relaxation of COVID restrictions affects MAD//Fest London on 7-8 July at The Old Truman Brewery.

Boris & co. may have hit the pause button on ‘Freedom day’ but the good news is that MAD//Fest London can go ahead as planned on 7-8 July at The Old Truman Brewery Car Park.

We’ve been building the show based on Stage 3 rules that came into force on 17 May (the same rules that permit outdoor events like the football at Wembley, a trip to your local cinema and business events).

So whilst we’d have loved to be welcoming you to the show free from any restrictions, the topline is that we can run MAD//Fest at the capacity we were expecting.

What will be different?

Not too much! As the event is predominantly outside, we can operate well within the legal capacity of the venue. You'll need your face mask for internal spaces and we will have social distancing measures in place. We will also be running temperature checks at registration.

Thanks to our friends at Reckitt, you'll see lots of Dettol hand sanitiser stations around the venue and your health is top priority.

We’ll need you to consume all food and drink whilst seated. We encourage you to take a COVID test and get a negative result prior to attending MAD//Fest. You can pick up lateral flow tests free of charge at your local pharmacy or order them online. If you do take a test, you should log it on the NHS mobile app.

If you've got a ticket, you're one of the lucky ones as we will need to stick to the original capacity we had planned under the stage 3 rules.

Of course we will keep you updated if there are any changes.

The upshot

MAD//Fest London IS ON and this setback on the road out of lockdown shouldn't affect your enjoyment of this summer's only In Real Life industry festival! And if you can't make it to London, don't forget you can enjoy all the action from anywhere you find yourself on 7-8 July with a virtual pass.

Thank you!

Nobody said it would be easy and when we launched the crazy concept of an outdoor MAD//Fest in 2021, we weren't sure it would fly. The support we've had from attendees, speakers and sponsors to make the show happen has been nothing short of incredible. We can't wait to serve up a big, bold and beautiful MAD//Fest experience as we bring the industry together and celebrate what we can do on 7-8 July!

You can find more information about the rules on stage 3 events on the UK government website.
