Tarzan Economics Author Will Page And Outspoken Professor Tommaso Valletti Join Line-up for ATTENTION!@MAD//Fest

11 Jun, 2021

ATTENTION! will explore how attention is shaping the future of advertising and the wider economy on 8 July at MAD//Fest London.

Tarzan Economics Author and former Spotify Chief Economist Will Page and vocal Economics Professor Tommaso Valletti are amongst a line-up of leaders confirmed for the first ATTENTION!@MAD//Fest on 8 July at The Old Truman Brewery.

Co-located with MAD//Fest London, ATTENTION@MAD//Fest is a full day stream of content dedicated to the attention economy and its increasing importance in advertising and the wider economy.

A hugely influential book in political and business circles, Tarzan Economics explores how to recognise and adapt to disruption facing individuals, industries, and institutions. For Page, attention is a critical concept to understand today’s world and a powerful tool for brands and businesses who can leverage it.

'Tarzan Economics' is a framework for recognising and acting on disruption, by letting go of the old vine and grabbing onto the new.

Other speakers include GSK Northern European Media Director Sam Gaunt, Nomad Foods Growth Strategy and Insight Director Nick Steele, Lumen MD Mike Follett and Imperial Economics Professor Tommaso Valletti. Professor Valetti has been a vocal critic of the power of big tech firms on news and his 2019 paper 'Attention Oligopolies' has directly affected UK and EU policies.

“The whole advertising ecosystem is increasingly switching on to the power, value and real impact presented by attention as a metric. Clearly the attention issue extends much further than advertising and will play a pivotal role in the future of business, the economy, politics and culture. We’re excited to bring together the most influential leaders in the attention space and provide MAD//Fest attendees with an inspiring guide to getting an unfair share of attention,” said Dan Brain, MAD//Fest London’s Co-founder.

4,000 attendees are expected to attend MAD//Fest London on 7-8 July  and over 150 industry leaders will tackle 2021’s theme, ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’

Speakers include BrewDog MD James Brown, Broadcaster June Sarpong OBE, S4 Capital Executive Chairman Sir Martin Sorrell, Dishoom Co-founder Shamil Thakrar, Ogilvy Vice-chair Rory Sutherland and Facebook VP EMEA Nicola Mendelsohn CBE and Resi Founder Alexandra Depledge MBE.
