Podcast: Wunderman Thompson Commerce's Head of Innovation on when content and commerce collide

By Dan Brain, Co-founder + Content Director, MAD//Fest London 26 Sep 2019

WPP martech consultancy Cognifide’s latest podcast on the collision of content and commerce is a belter if you’re looking to understand the latest shifts in consumer expectations, the new commerce journey, and how retail giants like Amazon are changing the game.

Hosted by tech journalist Gemma Milne, ‘When content and commerce collide’ is the latest episode of The Experience Makers, Cognifide’s monthly podcast dedicated to all things martech and customer experience. This episode sees Gemma and Cognifide CEO Miro Walker joined by Wunderman Thompson Commerce's Head of Innovation Naji El-Arifi for a discussion on how content and commerce intersect and the evolution of the "shopping cart" to a more fluid journey between editorial and social experiences.

Whilst much has been said about the demise of bricks-and-mortar retail at the expense of e-commerce, this week’s guests see this as overly simplistic.

However, retail platforms such as Amazon continue to excel in customer experience, which in-turn drives growth.

For Miro and Naji, this makes it even more important for retailers and other brands need to take stock of how Amazon and other platforms approach customer experience and think carefully about how content and commerce collide can drive growth.
