THE INFLUENCER ECHO CHAMBER IS REAL. IT'S TIME BRANDS FOUND THEIR NERVE.
21 July 2026
Influencer marketing has never been more powerful—or more predictable. Charlie Oscar's latest report explores how brands can rediscover creativity and build real influence.
Somewhere along the way, influencer marketing stopped chasing possibility and started chasing optimisation. Connection gave way to clicks, distinctive ideas to discount codes, perspective to playbooks. Without really noticing, we built an echo chamber.
Ironically, this is happening at the exact moment when creators can move culture. Every major marketing event, every industry report, every boardroom conversation now says the same thing: creators are one of the most effective forces in modern marketing. But as investment has grown, creativity has often shrunk.
Today, brands know how to run influencer campaigns. Fewer know how to build influence.
That's why we've launched Find Your Nerve, Charlie Oscar's 2026 Influencer Report. A field guide for brands ready to escape the echo chamber and return to what actually works in creator marketing. The fundamentals haven't changed. We've just forgotten them.
For years we've tried to squeeze influencer marketing into a performance funnel that was never built for how people actually behave. We optimised for the metrics that were easiest to measure, not the outcomes that mattered.
Yet we've known for years that 80% of influencer value isn't captured by clicks or discount codes alone. Influence compounds through attention, familiarity, trust and memory. Those build brands. Those create commercial impact over time.
So the problem isn't that influencer marketing stopped working. We've been measuring the wrong things.
Our feeds have become increasingly predictable. The same hooks, TikTok Shop scripts, transitions, creator briefs and "authentic" campaigns that somehow look identical. Brands have become so focused on best practice that we've accidentally optimised originality out of the process. Safe content doesn't get remembered. Safe brands don't become culturally significant.
This report is an invitation to do something different.
We start by returning to clarity. Influence doesn't begin with follower counts or macro versus micro labels. It begins with stronger strategic signals. Why creators matter is the unique trust, credibility and role they play within communities. Two creators can deliver the exact same message and leave audiences with entirely different impressions.
Then we look at how influence scales. Creator content shouldn't stop where organic reach ends. The strongest campaigns carry creator signals across paid media, owned channels and the full marketing stack. Partnership Ads, redistribution and connected media strategies aren't simply amplification tactics. They're how trust continues after the original post disappears from the feed.
Finally, we tackle perhaps the biggest challenge facing marketers today: measurement.
Measurement shouldn't exist to justify influencer investment after a campaign finishes. It should give marketers the confidence to make better creative decisions before a campaign even starts.
That's why we've shared how our proprietary Marketing Mix Modelling solution, COmpass, helps brands move beyond vanity metrics to understand incrementality, media interaction and genuine commercial contribution. Because if we can't confidently measure influence, we'll never confidently invest in it.
But perhaps the most exciting part of the report comes after the fundamentals. Once clarity is established, creativity can breathe again.
Inside Find Your Nerve, we explore the work that's moving creator marketing beyond the endless brief-and-post cycle. Creator-built worlds instead of one-off deliverables. Microdramas instead of isolated content. Creative devices that audiences actively want to engage with. Campaigns that extend beyond social feeds and into culture itself.

Because creator marketing was never supposed to become a faster content production line. It was supposed to be one of the most imaginative disciplines in marketing.
The brands that will win the next decade won't simply spend more. They'll build stronger signals, create work that people actually choose to pay attention to and trust creators enough to add something the brand couldn't have created on its own.
