30 September 2022
High Steet giant M&S is to partner with web based augmented reality startup Aircards Hashting to help them make the customer experience a bit more exciting, drive new customers into M&S, and reward existing customers.
Megan Ludlow, head of innovation partnerships at M&S said of their brief, “we’re looking for a world class digital solution to take into our stores… something that will drive interest for the consumer, and sales for M&S, something cool, innovative and agile.”
Aircards will now have the chance to scale their business with M&S through a £20k pilot pitch.
Aircards’ solution is based on their ability to create easily accessible web based experiences, using either digital or socal channels or QR codes to drive the consumer journey.
Pitching for Aircards, their head of global partnerships, Marek Wrobel, added, “what we've created is an AR portal that activates for a QR codes based around the store. This use of AR can be used by M&S from utility perspective, basically wayfinding we approach this from storytime. So actually engaging people giving them more information about the brand. So yeah, it seems like brands aligned. But not only to tell them about the product, but actually give them some value exchange.”
Speaking of the winning pitch, Ludlow said that she was particularly impressed by the commercial aspect of it, saying that a lot of people try and do augmented reality experiences but what they generally lack is the key function of revenue generation
