This July, MAD//Fest London, Europe’s largest gathering of brands this summer, opens its doors on 2-4 July, Old Truman Brewery and it will be the home for some of the biggest and well-known brands who have creativity and innovation at their heart.

As with previous years, MAD//Fest is also hosting some of the cutting edge and trendiest challenger brands who are ripping up the rule book, changing the way things are done, and have innovation in their DNA.

Taking to the Hexagon Stage on Day One Will be the viral water brand, who are quenching the thirst of many a Gen Z’er, Liquid Death. SVP Marketing, Dan Murphy will talk about how the ‘Wrong Thing” Can Be Right’ and how dumb ideas can lead to creative gold. The Liquid Death can is clearly not the only distinctive thing about them - the way they think about marketing is also very disruptive. A brand that likes to stand out and shout, Dan’s session will be one to listen to.

In a world of shitty news, Who Gives A Crap is a loo roll brand that provides hope. A true purpose brand, before the term was invented, Emily Kraftman, Who Gives A Crap’s European MD will take to the stage to talk about their mission to ‘uncrap the world’. Who Gives A Crap are standard bearers in showing how being bold is the most sensible thing a brand can do and that in marketing you should always do things differently. (Emily will be speaking on the Hexagon Stage on 3 July at 10:55 am.)

Purplebricks is one of the most-well known, successful and, (at times) notorious brands to succeed in the past ten years. Their CMO, Phil Lloyd, is the man at the helm who is trying to do that all important, but very tricky thing of ‘writing the second album’. What happens when a challenger brand earns its spurs? How does it keep its edge, innovative spirit, and ‘do it all again’? (Phil will be on the Hexagon Stage at 10:30 am on 4 July)

Upsets are usually the domain of sports, however, last year Lucky Saint beat Mattel, British Airways and many other big and great brands to win The Marketing Society’s Brand of the year. Kerttu Inkeroinen, Lucky Saint’s marketing and ecommerce director, will outline on 4 July at 11:10 am, how they did this and what challenger brand marketing is -  in short, she believes it is about being iconic, breaking the rules and being bold!

This year’s MAD//Fest London is set to welcome 12,000+ brand/agency attendees across The Old Truman Brewery and features more than 250 top speakers, live £20k innovation pitch briefs from The LEGO Group, Boots and Colgate-Palmolive, and brand activations from Diageo, Havana Club, Sticks ‘N’ Sushi, Gipsy Hill Brewery, Hoppers, Tenzing and Liquid Death.
