MAD//Fest And New Digital Age Reignite 99//Club Digital Community
12 November 2021
MAD//Fest and New Digital Age have resurrected the 99//Club and are giving practitioners the chance to share their visions, solutions and ideas by recording a 99 second video.
Selected videos will be distributed via MAD//Fest and New Digital Age’s networks and at MAD//Fest London on 5-7 July, where attendees will also have the opportunity to get their 99 seconds of fame on a soapbox stage. Key themes include making marketing a force for good, addressing structural industry issues, and creating new frontiers for brands through creativity, innovation and technology.
Launched in 2020, the 99//Club was created to provide short-form content to inspire marketers and creative solutions to the industry’s challenges. The concept quickly gained popularity and in June 2020 MAD//Fest and New Digital Age launched a virtual event as a response to the pandemic, The 99//Club Digital Festival.
Over the course of five topic-themed days, 96 industry leaders presented their ideas in just 99 seconds at the 99//Club Digital Festival. Speakers included Havas Chief Creative Officer Vicki Maguire, Missguided Chief Growth Officer Nick Bamber and Be More Pirate Author Sam Conniff. Speakers used a variety of mediums to tell their story, including song, spoken word and interactive games. The event also featured a production of ‘Cribz’, shot by legendary adlander Rory Sutherland, as well as a DJ set from Defected, a pizza game in partnership with Just-Eat and live illustrations from Three Blind Mice.
“Christmas is fast approaching and It’s the time of year when everyone is talking about ads and thinking about their plans and ambitions for the year ahead. Bringing back the 99//Club feels like a fantastic way to provide clarity in the confusion and inspire marketers to think big about the challenges and opportunities of the day,” said Dan Brain, MAD//Fest’s Co-founder.
“We’re excited to once again bring the MAD//Fest and New Digital Age communities together and create an archive of distinctive, short form content that gets attention and has people thinking creatively about how they tell stories.”
“We love working with MAD//Fest and re-introducing the 99//Club is an obvious move when you think about the collective creativity of our respective audiences. It’s inclusive, anyone can have a shot, and we can’t wait to see how you create stories that inspire, entertain and get our industry to tackle the big issues of the day head on,” said Justin Pearse, New Digital Age’s Editor.
“The 99//Club was distinctive among all the virtual events launched during the pandemic and I can’t wait to see how it manifests as a year-round digital and live events community initiative.”
