We’re Hiring: Brilliant Business Development Manager Wanted At MAD//Fest

MAD//Fest is searching for a talented Business Development Manager/Sponsorship Sales Manager to join the team this spring as we expand internationally and launch new hybrid event formats.
Despite the challenges presented by a global pandemic, MAD//Fest has continued to grow through our virtual events such as MAD//Anywhere, MAD//Fest x DMEXCO@home and The 99//Club Digital Festival. We’re now looking to add a talented individual to the team as we plan for the return of MAD//Fest London (7-8 July) and a busy autumn schedule of UK and international events. The new hire will report directly to MAD//Fest’s Co-founder and Commercial Director Ian Houghton.

Role: Business Development Manager / Sales Manager
Salary: £40K + attractive commission structure (OTE £60-70K)
Reports to: Commercial Director
Location: Flexible (with regular travel to London)

About the role:
We’re looking for a new Business Development Manager/Sales Manager to join the team at a super exciting time of MAD//Fest’s growth. You’ll be reporting to the Commercial Director, and will be responsible for driving revenue growth by selling event sponsorship (both live + virtual)
You’ll promote MAD//Fest suite of products to both new and existing customers and negotiate sales contracts.
In addition to selling, you’ll be a key point of contact for your clients, managing aspects of account post-sale. You will take part in regular meetings with the team to align on account management, commercial opportunities and the sales pipeline.
You will:
- Sell exhibition space and bespoke sponsorship packages across our event portfolio (Live + Virtual)
- Prospect for new business on linkedin, via email, through calls and F2F meetings with potential clients
- Work closely with the team to on new commercial opportunities
- Build successful relationships with existing and new clients
- Work closely with operations team to ensure all aspects of sponsorship are fulfilled
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the martech, adtech and media landscape
- Lead commercial pitches to new clients
- Follow up & close high value sales
- Attend competitor events (IRL and virtual) across UK/Europe to prospect for new business
Who you are:
- You’ll have a solid understanding of the Marketing, advertising and media industry, ideally with a great book of contacts amongst in the MarTech + AdTech space
- You’ll have a minimum of 2 years commercial experience in events, publishing, advertising or other media sales for a credible organisation and be able to demonstrate a track-record of exceeding your sales targets
- You’re bright, possess strong business acumen and have an entrepreneurial attitude
- You’re excited to work in a fast-growing event startup that does things differently
- You’re confident, outgoing, driven and don’t give up
- You’re target-orientated with the ability to meet and exceed KPIs
- You have strong communication skills (written and oral) with experience in writing in-depth proposals with limited support
- You have a positive attitude and can demonstrate excellent work ethic — we’re a startup and we are looking for people who want to be instrumental to its growth
- You’re confident working autonomously but also relish being part of a wider team
- You’ll have a genuine interest in the marketing and advertising sector
- You have experience tracking sales and conversations on a CRM (e.g. Pipedrive)

Location:
London (although we are open to remote candidates as long as they are able to travel into London when needed)
