Hollie McLellan, Boots’, Director of Customer Marketing said that the more needed to be done to get women in the boardroom.

In the short interview on THE FIFTH’S VIP roof terrace at this summer’s MAD//FEST McLellen asked, in addition to her wanting more women in the boardroom: “why aren't we there already? There are leadership programmes for women. But there are things that we need to do. So that's making sure the structure around women at work or anyone who's in a caregiving position is there”

She added: “Then also working with our allies, which are probably men, often actually on boards, to invite more women in to be mentored. I kind of look at my own career journey and think actually, I've got lots of female mentors, but I don't have many male mentors and why is that so, pushing myself to be a bit more out there and asking to be mentored by men. Also on the flip side, more men, mentoring younger women”

Watch the full interview here, where she also talks about how Boots is trying to be clear on the value of their products to consumers who are cash strapped, and how Boots is riding the storm by continuing to invest in the brand, their stores, and data.

‘MAD//Fest Moments’ is a series, in partnership with THE FIFTH in which prominent industry leaders share emerging trends, challenges and opportunities. We’ll be covering these interviews over the rest of the Summer and Autumn in MAD//Insight.
